Filings, Firepower, & Frontier
A wave of IPO news, the first American sea-drone kill, and a $53B swing at PayPal.
Anthropic is lining up bankers to list as soon as October, ahead of OpenAI. SpaceX attempted Flight 13 and dropped its first V3 Starlinks. Saronic logged the first American sea-drone kill in combat. Anduril turned Barracuda into a production franchise and fired an AIM-120 from an unmanned fighter. Kalshi self-certified flight-cancellation contracts while raising near $40B. Kraken stacked institutional yield vaults and a Mastercard debit card. OpenAI shipped a $230 keyboard and got sued by Apple. And Stripe put $53B on the table for PayPal.
Let's get into it.

π§ Anthropic: Bankers Circling an October Listing
Bankers are scheduling IPO investor meetings, and Anthropic could list as soon as October, ahead of OpenAI. The same day, it unveiled Ode, a $1.5B enterprise-implementation JV with Blackstone and Hellman & Friedman. Run-rate revenue has already vaulted to $30B from $9B at the end of 2025. A near-term, potentially record-setting AI IPO would set the first public-market benchmark for a frontier lab, while Ode extends monetization into high-margin implementation. The prospectus is coming.
π SpaceX: 600 Reuses and the Next Starship Test
SpaceX pushed reusability further this month, logging the 600th reuse of a flight-proven Falcon 9 booster, the kind of milestone that keeps widening its launch-cost moat over ULA and Blue Origin and feeds the Starlink cash engine. All eyes now turn to Starship 13 its first flight since the Nasdaq listing and the mission that will carry the first operational V3 Starlink satellites. V3 to orbit is the gating milestone for revenue-generating orbital Starlink and Artemis 3, and the execution test the public market is waiting on.
βοΈ Saronic: The First U.S. Sea-Drone Strike
CENTCOM confirmed the first combat use of American sea drones: three Saronic Corsair USVs struck a submarine and ship-maintenance facility at Iran's Bandar Abbas Naval Base. It is the first operational combat deployment of Saronic's flagship platform, in the highest-stakes scenario a defense company can get. Combat employment is the procurement and valuation catalyst hardware companies spend years chasing.
π‘οΈ Anduril: Barracuda Becomes a Franchise
Anduril signed a Department of War framework agreement to scale Barracuda-500 production toward thousands of units a year, and the Air Force ran the first live AIM-120 shot from its YFQ-44A collaborative combat aircraft. Earlier in the week, NATO selected Lattice for its eAirC2 evaluation, Anduril's first direct NATO contract. It turns Barracuda into a multi-year production line and de-risks the CCA program against General Atomics, building recurring defense revenue ahead of any liquidity event. The contracts are stacking.
π― Kalshi: New Contracts, New Valuation
Kalshi self-certified a CFTC-regulated event contract on flight cancellations, a live market already running, moving beyond politics and sports into real-world hedging. It also launched Kalshi Pro, a professional desktop terminal scanning ~2,000 markets, and a Nasdaq-listed ETF committed $30M in its latest rebalance. Aggressive product velocity into new categories expands the TAM behind reported ~$40B fundraising talks, in a venue running north of $178B annualized. The retail app is becoming an exchange.
π Kraken: Yield Vaults & a Debit Card, IPO in View
Kraken Institutional partnered with Upshift to build non-custodial vaults earning yield on idle BTC, ETH, and stablecoins held in qualified custody. It also debuted the Kraken Card, a Mastercard debit card for UK and EEA customers with up to 2% cash back in crypto and no Kraken fees. Both deepen the revenue stack, one institutional, one consumer, ahead of a confidentially filed IPO, going straight at Coinbase on two fronts at once.
π€ OpenAI: A Keyboard, a Lawsuit, & a New Flagship
OpenAI released the Codex Micro, a $230 keyboard built with Work Louder to command fleets of coding agents, its first branded hardware. It also rolled GPT-5.6 to general availability at aggressive per-token pricing, while Apple sued the company on July 10, alleging its hardware chief pulled Apple trade secrets into an unannounced device program. The hardware push and the lawsuit are the same story: OpenAI wants the next interface, and Apple wants to stop it.
π Watch List
π³ Stripe: A $53B Swing at PayPal
Reuters reported Stripe teamed with PE firm Advent International on a joint bid to take PayPal private for about $53B (~$60.50/share), a ~28% premium, backed by roughly $50B in committed financing. PayPal shares jumped, and its board could meet as soon as July 20. A take-private this size would rank among the largest fintech deals ever and reprice Stripe as a public-scale consolidator, material to its stablecoin and agentic-commerce roadmap. The private company is trying to swallow the public one.
ποΈ Crusoe: Gigawatts on Order
Crusoe and Lancium announced a grid-connected 1.0 GW AI data center campus in Childress, Texas for an unnamed hyperscaler, a week after unveiling a ~$4.5B, 500 MW site in Missouri. The company is reportedly raising ~$3B at a ~$30B valuation, roughly triple its October mark. Another contracted gigawatt reinforces the demand story behind the neocloud thesis.
π Polymarket: Records & Red Flags
Polymarket's World Cup winner market crossed $4.2B in volume, a single-event record, and Blockchain.com integrated its markets for 43M-plus verified users. But a Stanford and SMU paper found ~821 traders nudged Binance spot in the final seconds to swing oracle settlement on its 5-minute Bitcoin contract, extracting ~$8.2M, 93% from retail. Independent evidence of exploitable settlement design in the fastest-growing product raises integrity risk amid a reported ~$15B raise.

π The Shipping Container of Space
Maxinomics is one of our favorite youtube channels. He has the cleanest explainer on how SpaceX actually makes money: the entire company reduces to an empty 17-by-34-foot chamber at the tip of a rocket, and what you put in it sets the valuation. It is the rare breakdown that makes the Starship-plus-Starlink cash machine legible without the hype.
π¬ Claude Now Makes the Ads Too
Fastlane launched Claude for AI UGC: drop in a website and it spins up thousands of promo videos on demand. If you run an ecommerce store, this is the one to actually try, an overnight creative team that turns your product page into a feed of ads. Half of it will be garbage. The other half might outperform whatever your agency charged you five figures for last quarter. Watch the clip.
π¦Ύ The Robots Learned to Throw Hands
Put aside the novelty of robots in a cage. What matters is that the movement was reactive, not choreographed, which is the hard part of humanoid control and the thing most demos quietly avoid. Every improvised strike is a proxy for balance, dexterity, and real-time decisioning. The future is going to be a wild place.
